PAR seeks enthusiastic and customer service-oriented Patient Care Representatives to perform patient check in, check out, and other administrative tasks for our Hanover PAR location. Enjoy weekly pay with the opportunity to grow in a team-oriented work environment. 

Job Responsibilities for Medical Assistant Floater 

  • Greet patients and instruct them on the use of the Phreesia pad. 
  • Enter demographic and insurance data on all patients and acknowledge patients in Allscripts. 
  • Scan financial paperwork and insurance cards.
  • Obtain referrals when required.
  • Check patient out in Allscripts.
  • Schedule follow up appointment and tests. 
  • Complete order forms and give instructions to the patients. 
  • Call patients to schedule / reschedule appointments. 
  • Complete daily administrative tasks: mail appointment reminders and paperwork, scan, index and distribute faxes in EMR, check and respond to patient messages in EMR, fax patient paperwork to DME companies, etc. 
  • EMR maintenance: fax daily notes to other physicians from output queue, fax LabCorp orders from lab queue and clear orders out of results tab
  • Assist Medical Assistants with daily workload as time permits. 
  • Adhere to Pulmonary Associates’ standards of excellent customer service to patients, caregivers, providers, coworkers, and those outside of Pulmonary Associates 
  • Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures in order to protect patient privacy and security. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by provider, supervisor or member of Administration – for example, cross trained to perform patient check in and / or check out during clinic.

    Call Center Specialist

    About the role: 

    PAR is seeking an enthusiastic Call Center Specialists to work in the call center answering all incoming phone calls for the practice.  This position is the first point of contact for patients, family members, referring to physicians and their staff, hospital staff, and other members of the community. Employees will work a set shift as determined by the supervisor. 

    This is a remote position in Virginia. The selected candidate will be required to make occasional trips to the PAR office.

    Job Responsibilities for Medical Assistant Floater 

    • Answer incoming calls promptly and while demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
    • Listen and ask probing questions to determine the reason for the call and then handle the call accordingly.   
    • Schedule patient appointments for pulmonary and sleep 
    • Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into Allscripts.
    • Schedule appointment according to current policies 
    • Inform caller of arrival time, items to bring to appointment, cancellation policy, etc.    
    • Disseminate patient questions and refills requests via EMR to the MA/provider.
    • Provide basic information, guidance, and instructions to callers.  
    • Distribute consultations and enter MD Coder.
    • Complete appointment requests are made online.
    • Gather patient records for local hospital systems (Bon Secours and HCA)
    • Assist with patient rescheduling as needed.
    • Assist with EMR indexing of incoming documents when/if needed.
    • Assist with EMR output queue when/if needed.
    • Assist with scheduling faxed and electronic new patient referrals.

    • Utilize inventory management system to dispense, transfer, and adjust inventory when needed.

    RPSGT Day Sleep Technician

    About the role:The RPSGT Day Sleep Technicians provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. We are looking for fully registered and certified full-time Sleep Technicians to work at our Waterford and West Broad PAR Sleep Center locations

    Job Responsibilities for the RPSGT Day Sleep Technicians 

    • Score nighttime sleep studies, including sleep / wake stages and clinical events according to accepted guidelines and clinic protocols, and generate accurate reports by tabulating data.
    •  Educate patients about CPAP therapy and perform mask fittings.
    • Perform download of CPAP machine data cards
    • Trouble shoot CPAP mask and machine problems and work with patient to find solution to increase compliance.
    • Coordinate with DME company regarding patient’s CPAP machine: complete and fax paperwork for initial set ups, write and fax RX for initial set ups and new equipment, assist with patient questions and equipment problems, etc.
    • Respond to voicemails and EMR messages within timeframe as set by PAR.
    • Accurately document patient activity, phone calls, etc. in EMR
    • Coordinate home sleep studies: Instruct patients on the proper use of the home sleep unit, complete all paperwork, upload completed studies for physician review, etc.
    • Fax sleep study results to referring physicians.
    • Trouble shoot sleep software and equipment.
    • Evaluate sleep study related equipment and inventory.
    • Maintain cleanliness of lab by cleaning and disinfecting equipment
    • Communicate with night techs regarding patient needs, questions, etc.
    • Must be willing and able to work at any of PAR’s three locations on a moment’s notice.
    • Schedule appointments for patients to pick up Auto PAP machine for at-home Auto PAPtitrations. Instruct patients in the proper use of the machine. Fit patients with CPAP masks.
    • Perform in-lab diagnostic PSGs, split-night studies and titration studies as needed (i.e.: for patients who happen to work the night shift) in accordance with the established protocols as outlined in the PAR Sleep Lab Policy and Procedure manual.
    • Perform actigraphy testing.
    • Participate in AASM interscorer reliability program once / month.
    • Obtain 10 CEUs per year (year is based on anniversary date of employment)
    • Adhere to Pulmonary Associates’ standards of excellent customer service to patients, caregivers, providers, coworkers, and those outside of Pulmonary Associates
    • Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures in order to protect patient privacy and security.

Our sleep staff are dedicated to patient care – that’s what makes our Sleep Disorder Center known as the “Gold Standard” for sleep medicine in Virginia. This position is a PRN position.

    Sleep Technologist Trainee

    About the role: The Sleep Technologist Trainee – Day Shift performs supervised polysomnographic-related duties in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards and facility policies. This role supports daytime clinical operations, including home sleep testing (HST), Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT), patient education, data management, and coordination of care, while completing structured training toward eligibility for the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential. All duties are performed under the supervision of a credentialed RPSGT and/or physician, consistent with training level and demonstrated competency. This position will float to all PAR Sleep locations. Must obtain the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential within 12 months after hire as a condition of continued employment. Failure to obtain the RPSGT credential within 12 months after hire will result in termination of employment.

    Job Responsibilities for the Sleep Technologist Trainee

    • Assist with preparation, setup, and distribution of home sleep testing (HST) equipment
    • Assist with the setup and performance of Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLTs), including patient preparation, monitoring, and documentation, under the supervision of a credentialed sleep technologist and/or physician 
    • Provide patient education on proper use of HST devices to ensure understanding and compliance 
    • Receive, download, and process HST data for physician interpretation 
    • Review study data for completeness and escalate concerns as appropriate 
    • Perform accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) 
    • Assist with CPAP/APAP device downloads and prepare reports for provider review 
    • Support mask fittings and patient education related to PAP therapy as directed 
    • Maintain inventory, including cleaning, disinfection, and proper storage of equipment in accordance with infection control standards 
    • Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating replacements as needed 
    • Communicate effectively with providers, medical assistants, and team members to support patient care workflows 
    • Assist with administrative and clinical tasks to support efficient lab operations (messages, follow-ups, coordination) 
    • Adhere to HIPAA requirements, facility policies, and AASM accreditation standards 
    • Participate in required education, competency validation, and ongoing training 
    • Complete clinical hours, logs, and documentation required for registry eligibility
