The Sleep Technologist Trainee – Day Shift performs supervised polysomnographic-related duties in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards and facility policies. This role supports daytime clinical operations, including home sleep testing (HST), Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT), patient education, data management, and coordination of care, while completing structured training toward eligibility for the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential. All duties are performed under the supervision of a credentialed RPSGT and/or physician, consistent with training level and demonstrated competency. This position will float to all PAR Sleep locations.

Job Responsibilities for Sleep Technologist Trainee-Day Shift:

  • Assist with preparation, setup, and distribution of home sleep testing (HST) equipment
  • Assist with the setup and performance of Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLTs), including patient preparation, monitoring, and documentation, under the supervision of a credentialed sleep technologist and/or physician 
  • Provide patient education on proper use of HST devices to ensure understanding and compliance 
  • Receive, download, and process HST data for physician interpretation 
  • Review study data for completeness and escalate concerns as appropriate 
  • Perform accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) 
  • Assist with CPAP/APAP device downloads and prepare reports for provider review 
  • Support mask fittings and patient education related to PAP therapy as directed 
  • Maintain inventory, including cleaning, disinfection, and proper storage of equipment in accordance with infection control standards

Job Responsibilities for the Advanced Practice Clinician

  • Assesses patient health status including state of wellness and compliance with care plan. Determines and performs and/or prescribes appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, completing physical examinations, completing patient assessments and formulation of medical care planning to complete patient care including writing of medication prescriptions as appointed by Virginia law and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
  • Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. This includes the administration of medications and injections in compliance with applicable federal and state law as well as clinic guidelines. 
  • Conduct rounds on PAR patients as appropriate. This may/may not be at the direction of the supervising physician, as the job holder should be capable of assessing patient condition and his/her corresponding need to be seen.
  • Responds to emergencies including, but not limited to, the use of CPR and ACLS.
  • Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains department statistics. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
  • Educates patients and families as appropriate. This includes instructing the patient/family about health and illness prevention. Charged with recommending community resources that may aid in meeting patient/family needs.
  • Responsible for monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
  • Consults with other staff as necessary. This includes collaboration with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.

  • Supervise daily workflow and make changes where needed to ensure clinic runs efficiently.  
  • Monitor clinic processes and policies for compliance, communicate changes to employees, and make suggestions for improvement to Manager.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Fiscal management of the PC, the Surgery Center and the real estate holdings.
  • Working collaboratively with the Board of Directors on all Governance issues related to the 3 organizational units.
  • Monitoring and negotiating contracts in relation to the practice and the surgery center
  • Managing the direct reports to the Practice Administrator which include the Director of Operations, the Director of Revenue Cycle Management, the Controller, the Director of Audiology, the Director of Physical Therapy, the HR Manager, and the Surgery Center Administrator.
